Andrea Neuman is a partner in the New York office of Meister Seelig & Fein and the chair of the Employment Practice. Ms. Neuman provides strategic legal and business counsel to corporate clients and executives regarding employment law issues.

With over 25 years of law firm and in-house experience, Ms. Neuman brings a practical, business minded approach to challenging legal issues presented by her clients.

Ms. Neuman’s practice includes the provision of advice and counsel to employers of all sizes (from family offices, to start-up or more established companies) across the spectrum of employment issues from pre-hire to post-termination, including recruiting, harassment and discrimination issues, leaves of absence, wage and hour, policy review and benefits. She also has extensive experience in conducting investigations and delivering dynamic training on a variety of topics. In addition to her U.S. based client, Ms. Neuman often works with international companies looking to establish a U.S. presence or do business in the U.S. to ensure compliance with U.S. law.

Ms. Neuman has extensive background in compliance, monitoring and auditing of companies subject to regulatory review and scrutiny, including wage and hour compliance. In this capacity, she has helped companies to conduct risk assessments, implement risk mitigation programs and ensure compliance with agreements with regulators.

Ms. Neuman also has a strong litigation and administrative background with practice in federal and state courts and before federal, state and local administrative agencies.

Ms. Neuman frequently counsels companies and executives regarding employment agreements, business protection agreements, restrictive covenant agreements, independent contractor status and agreements, and equity and long-term incentive plans.  Ms. Neuman’s multi-faceted practice, representing both employers and executives combined with her in-house experience, provides her with a broad perspective to counsel clients on trends and benchmarking.

Prior Experience

Before joining MSF in 2018, Ms. Neuman consulted for Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a publicly held bio-pharmaceutical company with US and global operations in a senior in-house counsel role providing legal, human resources and compliance advice focused on employment law and transactional issues.  She also consulted for MSF and other clients in New York and Connecticut in a broad range of industries.

Prior to her consulting assignments, Ms. Neuman served as Associate General Counsel at Purdue Pharma L.P., a privately held pharmaceutical company in Stamford, Connecticut, for over 16 years (from 2000-2017).  In that role, Ms. Neuman served as in-house counsel and a senior leader providing legal, human resources and compliance advice. Ms. Neuman led the employment group at Purdue and in that capacity worked closely with board members, executives, managers and human resources business partners across the organization to provide practical, solution oriented labor, employment, benefit, compliance and risk mitigation advice.

Preceding her in-house career, Ms. Neuman served as an Associate in the Labor & Employment Department at Proskauer in New York City for over 7 years (from 1993-2000).  Ms. Neuman began her legal career in an in house position at NYNEX Information Resources Company in Massachusetts where she worked as a Contract Lawyer in the Legal Department.
