Amit Shertzer is Counsel in the commercial litigation practice in the New York office of Meister Seelig & Fein.  Mr. Shertzer serves as a committed proponent for the firm’s clients in proceedings before state and federal courts, administrative agencies, and forums for arbitration and alternative dispute resolution.

Mr. Shertzer brings significant experience representing individuals and companies in a wide range of industries through written and oral advocacy and in crafting strategic responses to complex commercial matters, with an eye toward practical, business-oriented solutions.

He has represented and advised clients in matters involving, among others, breach of contract, business fraud, real estate development rights, misappropriation of trade secrets, partnership disputes, overtime and minimum wage claims, and trademark prosecution and litigation.

Mr. Shertzer was born in Haifa, Israel and is fluent in spoken and written Hebrew.

Prior Experience

Before joining MSF, Mr. Shertzer served as a law clerk to Magistrate Judge in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.  Prior to that, he was an associate with a boutique international firm, where his practice focused on commercial litigation matters and cross-border international disputes.

Representative Matters

Represented financial services provider in contempt proceedings and appeal arising from compliance with third-party subpoenas.

Represented building owner and general contractor in suit involving mechanic’s liens and contract claims.

Represented nightclubs in challenges to multimillion-dollar sales tax assessments by State of New York.

Participated in representation of foreign national and pharmaceutical company in claims arising from multibillion-dollar, international financial and accounting fraud.

Participated in representation of large commercial landlord against multinational conglomerate in lease dispute arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Participated in representation of investment management firm in arbitration concerning redemption of shares of a technology start-up company.

Participated in representation of depositors against large foreign banks seeking recovery of multimillion-dollar deposits and investments.

Participated in representation of developer in rent renewal dispute with large international food chain.

Participated in defense of international restaurant chain against claims of breach of contract and trademark infringement.

Involvement

Mr. Shertzer is a member of the New York City Bar Association, where he has previously served as Chair of the New Lawyer Practice & Skills Committee.
