Junior Associate, Intellectual Property

Experience: 2-3 years of IP related experience

Qualifications

Our growing Intellectual Property Group seeks a motivated Junior Associate with two to three years of IP-related experience. This associate attorney should have solid experience with domestic and foreign trademark prosecution and maintenance, including conducting and reviewing trademark clearance searches, preparing trademark applications and other USPTO filings, and coordinating with foreign associates. Knowledge of trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings, copyright applications, and IP-related transactions such as work-for-hire agreements and trademark licenses would be a plus. The ideal candidate would have an open mind about assisting with, and taking the lead on, a variety of IP-related projects as they arise and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, be detailed oriented and be able to manage multiple deadlines in a professional and timely manner.

Paralegal, Intellectual Property

Experience: At least 4-6 years as an IP Paralegal

Qualifications

We are seeking an experienced and motivated IP Paralegal to join us.  This person will be responsible for providing support to attorneys in connection with management of the firm’s growing trademark and patent portfolios.  This position requires someone who is skilled in docketing and in assisting with prosecution and maintenance of trademarks and patents.  Primary responsibilities for this position include:

  • Organizing, monitoring and maintaining substantial trademark and patent portfolios using docket management systems such as DocketTrak.
  • Working with firm attorneys to meet trademark and patent prosecution deadlines.
  • Assisting with preparing and filing of U.S. and Madrid Protocol trademark applications, Statements of Use, extensions of time, Section 8 & 15 Affidavits, trademark renewals and subsequent designations.
  • Providing support for the patent prosecution practice, both in the USPTO and internationally, including under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT).
  • Preparing communications with clients and foreign associates regarding upcoming deadlines and filings in trademark and patent application matters.
  • Recording assignments and other ownership documents with the USPTO and WIPO.
  • Providing support for opposition and cancellation proceedings in the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Copyright Office application process and ability to assist with preparing and submitting copyright applications through eCO.
  • Willingness to perform other tasks and projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate
  • Able to work independently or with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and electronic filing systems with USPTO and WIPO
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Works well under deadlines and in a professional and timely manner
  • Strong knowledge of US and International rules and procedures regarding trademark and patent prosecution and maintenance
