Jeffrey Schreiber is an accomplished trial lawyer and creative business litigator who employs bottom-line-driven, practical thinking in using litigation as a business tool to solve business problems for his clients.  He has extensive litigation experience in the State and Federal courts in New York and New Jersey, where he is admitted to practice.  He is also the Managing Partner of MSF’s New Jersey Office.

Mr. Schreiber regularly counsels clients in a broad range of commercial business matters including: “corporate divorces;” real estate; restrictive covenants; environmental; intellectual property; employment; complex scientific matters; and fraud and other business torts. He has also acted as national coordinating counsel for asbestos and breast implant manufacturers. In each matter, Mr. Schreiber strives for the most efficient strategy to achieve results that are consistent not only with his clients’ short-term objectives, but with their overall business and personal goals.

Mr. Schreiber has also served as a Rule 1:40-approved court-appointed mediator for commercial cases in the Law Division of the New Jersey State Superior Court in Middlesex, Union, Mercer, Somerset and Monmouth Counties, and currently assists the court as a court-appointed mediator for the Chancery Division of the New Jersey State Superior Court in Middlesex County.  He also serves on the New Jersey Supreme Court’s District VIII Ethics Committee, and is the Chair of the Firm’s Standing Ethics Committee.

Before joining MSF in 2002, Mr. Schreiber was the principal of the Law Offices of Jeffrey Schreiber, which he founded in 1998, after nine years at the New York offices of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson.

Representation of New York owner/operator of Nicaraguan factory in a dispute with its North Carolina partner in connection with claims arising from defects in goods manufactured under contract for major international sportswear apparel company, including through conclusion of a seven-day, three-arbitrator panel arbitration hearing in Washington, DC.

Representation of contract vendee in specific performance action against sellers in New Jersey State Superior Court, Chancery Division, arising from sellers’ efforts to avoid selling property that more than tripled in value after the signing of the contract.

Representation in the Eastern District of New York of a commercial bakery in connection with FLSA/wage-and-hour and related claims asserted against it by a class of allegedly undocumented employees.

Representation of one of the largest international law firms in the world: (i) in New York State Supreme Court in connection with claims by alleged clients of the firm who were facing jail time, they claimed, as a result of the firm’s malpractice; (ii) in New York State Supreme Court and First Department in connection with indemnity and contribution claims made by former firm lawyers who were sued for malpractice; (iii) in the Southern District of New York and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in connection with novel claims by a bankruptcy trustee that the firm owed money to the estate of a defunct law firm as a result of that defunct firm’s former lawyers moving to the international firm; and (iv) in a New York arbitration between the firm and a former firm partner who claimed the firm owed him substantial monies as a result of the termination of his

Representation in New York State Supreme Court of former corporate president of accessories licensing firm in connection with president’s wrongful termination and unpaid bonus claims against his former employer.

Representation of stalking horse bidder in sale – bitterly contested by fourteen unions in claims that resulted in a trial – by bankruptcy trustee of construction company’s assets in Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of New York, and, in connection with unions’ emergency appeals, in the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.

Representation in New York State Supreme Court of soon-to-be-former father-in-law in connection with corporate divorce and fraud claims asserted against him by his erstwhile business partner and soon to be former son-in-law, arising in connection with the son-in-law’s divorce proceedings.

Representation of US companies in California Superior Court and the California Court of Appeal in connection with those companies’ breach of fiduciary duty claims against Japanese nationals arising from the loss of the companies’ investments in California properties as part of a complex, Japan-tax-driven investment structure.

Representation in New York State Supreme Court of minority interest owner and manager of limited liability company against his co-manager and majority interest owner in connection with fraud/corporate divorce claims against co-manager and co-manager’s management company.

Representation of real estate developer in connection with claims against seller of property arising from decades-long environmental remediation of property in North Jersey, including in connection with claims arising under indemnity agreement between developer and seller and under New Jersey and Federal environmental laws, as well as in connection with managing developer’s exposure in connection with claims asserted by NJDEP.

Representation of New Jersey oriental rug manufacturer/importer in State and Federal Court in Minnesota and in the New Jersey State Superior Court, as well as in the New Jersey Appellate Division and Supreme Court, in connection with unpaid commissions claims by Minnesota-based independent sales representative.
