Jim Ringer is a Partner at MSF and specializes in international and domestic commercial litigation, arbitration and mediation. His practice encompasses class actions, securities, acquisitions, contracts, bankruptcy litigation, insurance, antitrust, partnerships, intellectual property, alcohol beverage law and distribution contracts, franchises and termination.

Mr. Ringer has represented companies and individuals in investigations conducted by the Securities and Exchange Commission and served as trial counsel on numerous domestic and international arbitrations and federal and state jury and bench trials.

Prior Experience

Before joining MSF in 2008, Mr. Ringer was a partner at the international law firm Clifford Chance and its predecessor Rogers & Wells, where he started practice in 1968. Mr. Ringer served as a Lieutenant in the Judge Advocate General Corps of the United States Navy from 1969 to 1972.

Representative Matters

Represents a major bank in multiple lawsuits against investment banks and asset managers alleging fraud in connection with the purchase of CDO notes.

Represents a software sales company in a dispute with a software manufacturer.

Represented a Korean investor in a fraud claim involving bonds issued to finance a German development that resulted in an eight figure verdict in favor of the investor.

Represented an investment advisor defending a finders fee arbitration claim by a former partner with respect to a financing in Oman.

Represented an aerospace manufacturer in a half-billion dollar dispute involving the wheels and brakes for the Airbus A380 aircraft.

Represented a telecommunication company in an ICC arbitration concerning royalties and alleged breaches of cross-licensing agreements for cellular telephone technology.

Represented a Swiss investor in an ICC arbitration over oil and gas rights in Venezuela.
